Hello Everyone! This is my first blog and a long time coming no doubt! First off, I know it has taken me years to get this website revamped and to put up the merchandise store, and the "Dell Tell" and access to RECENT photos and blah blah blah. What can I say, I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology and although I am always on the go and moving at the speed of light, I have a tendency to drag my ass when it comes to the virtual world. Such is the life of a small independent business owner who is always bogged down with the day to day details of running bars so that I never find the time to focus on moving forward in other areas. Fortunately, thanx to a dynamite management team, I am finally able to start stepping back from the day to day business headaches and start focusing on the projects that have been sitting on my back shelf for years! Special thanx to Jim Freeman, because without him, honestly, this site would NEVER have been finished and no one would EVER have been able to buy a single item of Hogs & Heifers merchandise on line!
Before I get bombarded with questions regarding the limited merchandise items available with NYC Hogs & Heifers logo, I promise that we will expand the Hogs & Heifers NYC merchandise line as fast as possible. It all comes down to space and demand. At the Vegas establishment we have enough space, 6 times the size of the NY bar, for an actual merchandise store as well as lots of storage, so it has been a no brainer for us to expand the merchandise line in Las Vegas. In NYC we have only a tiny closet...I mean TINY, to store the merchandise and so we have always been limited on the items we could carry there; and because I have taken so damn long to get the online store up and running, I have not had the vehicle to sell the NYC items on line, so we simply have not expanded the merchandise line for the NYC bar. The items we do start to add to the H&H NYC merchandise line will have a lot to do with all of you. Please feel free to email us and let us know which items you would like to see available for the NYC line and the items that are the highest in demand will be the first items we will begin to produce for the NYC line. There are also a ton of items in the merchandise store at the Las Vegas bar that are not yet on our on line store, but as we get rolling we will be adding more and more items.
I must say I am excited to have finally finished this site and although it still has a ways to go, it is very functional and for now that works for me!! In time we will be making various upgrades so that it is more user friendly and interactive. Give me a break...it takes time to come out of the dark ages! LOL! The coolest feature on our site is the Jukebox and, as with everything else, we will be adding to this as we move forward. Our objective is to introduce independent artists and eventually we hope to add an option to purchase the songs that are on our on line jukebox. The first two songs to go on the on line jukebox were written by friends just for us and we are thrilled to be able to introduce them to those of you who can't get to the bars to hear them on our jukebox. "I'll Eat Anywhere" is a parody of the song "I've Been Everywhere", originally by Hank Snow. The version most of us are familiar with is by Johnny Cash. "I'll Eat Anywhere" was written and recorded by Jimmy Ray West, JR. and if you go the Media section of our website you can watch Jimmy performing the song live at Hogs & Heifers Las Vegas backed up by CASH'D OUT, the only Johnny Cash Tribute band you ever need to listen to! The second song on the on line jukebox was written by Jim Freeman. "Screw You, We Drink At Hogs" is a parody of Ray Wylie Hubbard's, "Screw You, We're From Texas" and was performed live at Hogs & Heifers Las Vegas by Southern Stue. Again, you can go to our Media page to watch the video of "Screw You, We Drink At Hogs". A little history on this song and video...the song and the video were produced as a surprise birthday present for me from my pal Jim and in order to keep it a surprise, Jim had to wait until I was out of town for a week and then had to scramble to get the band, our staff and a slew of our regulars, as well as my dog Hank, together on a Saturday afternoon to shoot the video and then threaten all of them with eternal damnation if anyone let it slip to me before he gave me the video! There is no doubt I am truly blessed with wonderful people in my life!
In time, we will be adding fun features to our new site and some of these will include contests for our customers to submit photos or stories of their experiences at or about Hogs & Heifers. In the meantime, please feel free to submit any photos for our "Customer Submitted" photo section on the photo page. I always have a ton of photos of the Vegas bar and events because so many photographers hang out here, but there is a shortage of great shots from the NYC bar, so if you have photos you want to send in to us, we would welcome the contribution. I cannot guarantee that every photo will be posted on our site of course, but will do my best to get as many up as possible.
On the subject of sending stuff in to Hogs & Heifers, I am new at this blogging thing, and although I am a prolific writer, it is hard for me to pick any one subject to write about...after 18 years of business, you can imagine the topics are endless. SO...if anyone has any special requests or subjects they would like to know more about, email us and I will do my best to answer via the "Dell Tell" blog.
Well, that's it for today folks! May the sun always shine on you, may the wind always be at your back and may the best days of your past be the worst days of your future!
